Question 1

Can I use my Custom Client with HopToDesk Dashboard?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you have a custom-branded HopToDesk client from the Custom Client Generator, you can use it with HopToDesk Dashboard. Go to Settings, enter your custom client download URL, and all invite links will download your branded version instead of the default HopToDesk. Your clients see your company name, logo, and colors, a complete white-label experience. The custom client works seamlessly with all HopToDesk Dashboard features: unattended access, device registration, ticketing, and session recording.

Question 2

Is HopToDesk Dashboard a good alternative to TeamViewer for MSPs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. HopToDesk Dashboard is one of the best TeamViewer alternatives for MSPs and IT service providers. The Business plan offers 500 to 2,000 devices, unlimited team members, and unlimited tickets from $49/month, compared to TeamViewer's per-device or per-seat pricing that can cost hundreds per month. You get unattended remote access, a centralized device dashboard, built-in help desk ticketing, session recording, device groups, SSO connect for passwordless device access, white-label branding, and compliance readiness tracking. Need more devices? Our Enterprise / MSP plan scales to unlimited devices. Perfect for MSPs and IT providers who need professional remote desktop support without enterprise pricing.

Question 3

How much does HopToDesk Dashboard cost compared to other remote support tools?

Accepted Answer

HopToDesk Dashboard offers a Free plan (3 devices, 2 team members), Pro from $15/month (120 to 350 devices, unlimited team members), and Business from $49/month (500 to 2,000 devices, unlimited team members, SSO connect). No per-technician fees, and Pro and Business have no ticket limits. Compare that to TeamViewer paid plans from $24.90/month billed yearly, AnyDesk from $28.90/month and ConnectWise ScreenConnect from $30/month, each adding cost as your team grows. For an MSP with 5 technicians and 200 devices, HopToDesk Business at $49/month total saves thousands annually. Unlike per-technician tools like Splashtop and Zoho Assist, it includes unlimited team members. Unlike AnyDesk, it includes ticketing, team collaboration, and white-label branding at no extra cost. Plus SSO connect, session recording, and mass deployment tools.

Question 4

Can I white-label HopToDesk Dashboard with my company branding?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Customize the client installation page with your company name, logo, and brand colors. When clients click your invite link, they see your branding, not HopToDesk. You can also generate a custom-branded HopToDesk client and embed a branded support widget on your website. Your clients experience a seamless, professional service under your company identity.

Question 5

Does HopToDesk Dashboard support unattended remote access?

Accepted Answer

Yes. HopToDesk Dashboard provides full unattended remote access. When clients install via your invite link, HopToDesk configures for unattended access automatically. Devices appear in your dashboard with real-time online/offline status. Connect anytime without requiring the client to be present, essential for after-hours maintenance, server management, and proactive IT support. The client runs silently in the background. With the Business plan, you can use SSO Connect for passwordless device access, meaning your technicians connect with a single click, no device passwords needed. For temporary third-party access, Access Links let you share a time-limited browser link for a single device: the recipient connects from any browser with no account or software install, links expire automatically after up to 7 days, can be revoked at any time, and every use is logged with time and IP.

Question 6

How do clients submit support tickets without calling or emailing?

Accepted Answer

HopToDesk includes a built-in ticket system. Clients right-click the system tray icon to open the ticket window directly within HopToDesk. No separate app needed. They can submit tickets with subject, description, priority, and file attachments (up to 30MB). A My Tickets tab lets them track ticket status, view real-time conversations with support, and reply directly. Tickets appear in your dashboard linked to their device. You can also embed a support widget on your website for additional ticket submission options.

Question 7

Can multiple technicians use HopToDesk Dashboard at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes! The Pro and Business plans both include unlimited team members with no per-seat fees. Invite technicians via email, assign roles (Admin, Member, or Viewer), and collaborate on tickets and devices. Assign tickets to specific team members, see who's working on what, and add internal notes only your team can see.

Question 8

How do I organize hundreds of client devices in a remote desktop dashboard?

Accepted Answer

Create device groups for each client, location, or device type (e.g., 'Acme Corp', 'Smith Law Office', 'Servers'). Filter your device list by group with one click. Assign groups when creating invites so devices are automatically organized. Use bulk actions to move multiple devices at once. Search by device name, ID, or group. Export device lists to CSV for reporting.

Question 9

Is HopToDesk Dashboard secure enough for business and enterprise use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. HopToDesk Dashboard includes enterprise-grade security: two-factor authentication (2FA) for all accounts, encrypted peer-to-peer connections, conditional access policies (IP, time, geo, approval-based), complete audit trails of all actions, login attempt monitoring with automatic lockout, session-based authentication with secure tokens, and compliance readiness tracking for SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and NIST CSF frameworks.

Question 10

Can I use HopToDesk Dashboard for break-fix and managed services?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. For break-fix: use Quick Connect for one-time sessions, or send invite links that register devices for future access. For managed services: devices stay registered with unattended access, organized by client groups. The ticketing system handles both ad-hoc requests and ongoing support. Session recording provides documentation for billing. Flat pricing works whether you support 10 clients or 100.

Question 11

What is included in the free remote desktop plan?

Accepted Answer

The Free plan includes up to 3 devices with core features: remote device management, unattended access, ticketing, session recording, device groups, contact management, 2FA security, and real-time notifications. No credit card required, no time limit. When you're ready to scale, upgrade to Pro (from $15/mo for 120 to 350 devices) or Business (from $49/mo for 500 to 2,000 devices with SSO connect and unlimited team members).

Question 12

Can I mass deploy HopToDesk to hundreds of devices and manage them all from my dashboard?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use the Standard Invite feature to generate a single URL that works for unlimited devices. Click the 'Standard Invite' button on the Devices page to get your deployment URL and team code. For automated deployments, use the team code with silent install: 'HopToDeskPro-TEAMCODE.exe /S' on Windows. Works with PowerShell remote deployment, GPO, Intune, SCCM, Jamf, and Ansible. All devices automatically register to your dashboard with real-time status. You can regenerate the URL anytime if it's compromised.

Question 13

Does HopToDesk work on Windows, Mac, and Linux?

Accepted Answer

Yes. HopToDesk supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. The HopToDesk Dashboard web interface works in any modern browser. The HopToDesk remote desktop client is available for Windows (with silent install for mass deployment via GPO, Intune, SCCM), macOS (native .dmg, deployable via Jamf or MDM), and Linux (.deb package, deployable via Ansible or manual install). You can manage all platforms from a single dashboard, mix and match Windows, Mac, and Linux devices in the same device groups.

Question 14

What is SSO Connect and how does passwordless remote desktop access work?

Accepted Answer

SSO Connect is a Business-only feature that enables passwordless remote device access. Once configured, your technicians click 'Connect' on any SSO-enabled device and their SSO code is validated automatically, no device password needed. This eliminates password management overhead, enables instant access revocation when staff leave (deactivate their account and all device access is immediately removed without touching any devices), and provides a complete audit trail of who accessed which device and when. Deploy devices with SSO enabled using Team Invites for mass deployment.

Question 15

Is HopToDesk Dashboard suitable for small businesses and solo IT consultants?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Pro plan from $15/month is designed specifically for freelance IT consultants and small IT shops. You get 120 to 350 devices, unlimited team members, built-in ticketing, session recording, device groups, white-label branding, SSO dashboard login, webhook integrations, and basic reports. Start with the Free plan (3 devices, no credit card) to evaluate. When you grow, upgrade to Business from $49/month for 500 to 2,000 devices and unlimited team members.

Question 16

What is the AI Assistant and how does it work?

Accepted Answer

The AI Assistant is a built-in AI-powered assistant that can run diagnostics, troubleshoot issues, and execute maintenance tasks on your managed devices, all from your dashboard. Type a request in plain English (e.g., 'Check disk usage and running processes'), select a target device, and the AI handles the rest. It generates and executes the appropriate commands, then summarizes the results. Pay only for what you use with wallet-based billing starting at $0.05 per request. No subscription required. Add credits in $5, $10, or $25 increments.

Question 17

How much does the AI Assistant cost?

Accepted Answer

The AI Assistant uses pay-per-use pricing with no monthly commitment. Simple requests like checking system info cost around $0.05, while complex troubleshooting tasks cost $0.06-$0.15. Add funds to your wallet in $5, $10, or $25 increments via secure checkout. The AI automatically selects the most cost-effective model for each task and shows you an estimated cost before executing, so there are no surprises.

Question 18

Does HopToDesk Dashboard help with compliance requirements like SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR?

Accepted Answer

The Business plan includes a compliance readiness tracker for self-assessing your posture against SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, PCI DSS and NIST CSF. Track each control as compliant, partial, or non-compliant. Document evidence and review dates. Export to CSV for audit preparation. Combined with access controls and comprehensive audit logs, HopToDesk Dashboard provides tooling to help enterprises prepare for formal compliance audits.
